The quick fitters do a lifetime warranty on pads as long as you own the car, plus they'll beat the price of any other local fitter, I am not a great fan of them and they might well be dearer than DIY but well worth it in the long run. Edited by jkspoff

They make their money by changing the discs at the same time as (free) pads are replaced.

You are perfectly right, I know that fast fit centres are rips off and charge OTT prices, but I just don't trust myself to mess with the brakes when I'm carting my family around. I wish I had the know how, and I would save loadsa money !

You've kept your family alive thus far using a far more complex set of skills and you obviously trust yourself to do that.

There are many sixteen year old apprentice fitters who could do your brakes blindfold and they can't even drive yet!

Have a little faith in yourself and follow one of the many examples of step-by-step instructions contributed by other forum members and start saving loadsamunny now.

It's really difficult to mess up a job this simple but don't be afraid to ask, TBH I wouldn't trust anyone else but myself to do my brakes, that's how bad fast fit centres (and most garages) really are.

Past experiences with garages, both fast-fit and main dealer, are one of the reasons I do my own.

If you plan to use a garage to do work like this, ask friends for local recommendations.
